Description Online certificate program that teaches the construction, operation, diagnosis, service, and repair of late-model automobiles and light trucks. Comprehensive program starts with the fundamental principles of system operation and progresses gradually to complex diagnostic and service procedures utilizing numerous color illustrations, 2-D and 3-D animations, built-in quizzes, and other interactive features. Covers latest developments in the automotive field, including ODB II diagnostics, enhanced emissions testing, misfire monitoring, air bag systems, anti-lock brakes, and security systems. Training organized around the eight ASE automobile test areas and is correlated to standards set by the National Automotive Technicians Educations Foundation (NATEF). Program units include: Foundations of Automotive Technology, Automotive Engines, Battery, Starting and Charging Systems, Engine Performance and Computer Systems, Electrical Systems, Drive Tran and Axels, Suspension, Steering and Brakes, Heating and Air Conditioning. The target audience is individuals interested in a career in automotive technology, experienced technicians who want more in-depth understanding in certain areas or those wishing ASE certification or recertification.
